Indian Squad for Australia series: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli rested, KL Rahul named captain

Indian Squad for Australia Series: The Indian cricket team won the Asia Cup 2023 title in a very spectacular manner, they reduced Sri Lanka to 50 runs, then won the final and the title by 10 wickets. Now the Indian team has to play a 3-match ODI series against Australia at home.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced its 15-member squad for the 2023 World Cup.

Rohit, Kohli and Pandya rested

The BCCI selection committee has rested captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, spinner Kuldeep Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya for the first two matches of the Australian series. He has been replaced by KL Rahul, while Jadeja has been made vice-captain. Also, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna have returned to the Indian team.

Kl Rahul (captain, wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

Rohit-Kohli-Pandya will return in the third match

The BCCI announced a 15-member squad for the first two matches, while the 17-member squad for the last and third matches has been announced.

Indian squad for the third and final match of the series:

Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel (wk), Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.

The first match against Australia on September 22

The first ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia will be played in Mohali on September 22, while the second ODI will be played in Indore on September 24.

After the ODI series, the Indian team will play the World Cup. The Indian team’s first match in the World Cup will be against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. The final match of the World Cup will be played in Ahmedabad on November 19.

India vs Australia ODI series:

1st ODI – September 22 – Mohali

2nd ODI – September 24, Indore

3rd ODI – September 27 – Rajkot

Australia announce squad for ODI series

The Australian team has already been announced for this ODI series against India. The 18-member Australian team will be captained by Pat Cummins, who was ruled out of the South Africa tour due to injury.

Head suffered a fracture in his left hand during the fourth ODI against South Africa. Opener Matthew Short has got a place in the squad instead of the head. Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc have returned to the Kangaroo team.
