Asian Games 2023: Indian hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and boxer Lovlina to be at opening ceremony

Indian Flag-Bearers in Asia Games 2023: The Asian Games are to be held in Hangzhou, China. The opening ceremony of the Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou on September 23. Indian men’s hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and Olympic medalist boxer Lovlina Borgohain will be the flag-bearers at the opening ceremony. On Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) approved the names of Harmanpreet Singh and Lovlina Borgohain. A total of 655 Indian athletes are taking part in the Asian Games, the largest ever contingent in the history of the Asian Games.

Harmanpreet Singh and Lovlina Borgohain will be the flag-bearers.

Earlier, Neeraj Chopra was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. Lovlina had won a bronze medal in the 69kg category at the Tokyo Olympics. Earlier this year, Lovlina won a gold medal in the 75kg category at the Women’s Boxing Championships in New Delhi. At the same time, Harmanpreet is counted among the best dragflickers in the world. The Indian team won a bronze medal in hockey at the Tokyo Olympics. That Harmanpreet played an important role in the victory.

“Today we have taken this decision after much thought,” contingent chief Bhupinder Singh Bajwa said. This time we will have two flag-bearers for the Asian Games. Our flag-bearers will be hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and boxer Lovlina Borgohain. At the same time, if the Indian hockey team manages to win the gold medal in the Asian Games, then the year will qualify for the Paris Olympics. The Paris Olympics are scheduled to be held next year.
