Noida Police has arrested a person from Jhansi in the Mahadev Gambling App scam case. Police got information that Akshay Tiwari was running Mahadev App racket in Noida. Two months ago also, the police had raided people associated with the Mahadev App scam and arrested 18 people. Since then, the police was searching for the other people running this racket.
Two months ago, the police had raided the people who had rented a house and set up a gambling setup there and arrested them and busted the racket.
According to Noida Police sources, this racket was being run from Noida in entire Uttar Pradesh. Through Mahadev app scam, people were encouraged to gamble and deposits were being taken from them. Live games like poker, card games, and chance games were being played through this app. Besides, betting on sports and political activities was also being done through this app. ED has recently banned this app and also arrested various people associated with this app. In Chhattisgarh, even the Bhupesh Baghel government of the state had to confront this app.
Noida Police spokesperson said, “On Monday, with the help of electronic surveillance as well as manual intelligence, accused Akshay Tiwari (29), a native of Jhansi district, was arrested from the Sector 37 bus stand here. He was wanted in the Gangsters Act case lodged at the local Sector 39 police station here,”.
The Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act case, which included 18 accused, was lodged in November 2023 while the gang was booked for cheating and forgery in January last year with the police arresting the suspects, who were later released on bail, officials said.
