World cup Exclusive: India’s defeat leads to Diwali for betting app

Hiteshbhai from Gujarat had bet 50 thousand rupees on India’s victory, but as soon as India lost, he lost the entire 50 thousand rupees and the betting app won. If the Indian team had won, Hiteshbhai would have got more than one lakh rupees.

This is not just a story of Rs 50 thousand, but more than Rs 70 thousand crores were bet on India’s victory in the entire country. A betting app operator based in Dubai told GamingIndia on the condition of anonymity that about 300 to 400 websites were active yesterday, more apps than this were continuously taking bookings. The way the environment was, most of the people had placed money on India’s victory and most of the people lost their money.

Those doing betting business have got huge profit from Australia’s win in yesterday’s match. Before the start of the match, all the betting apps, websites, cricket sites and even Google were declaring India as the contender for victory. Google was giving up to 70 percent chances of India winning. Also, due to the performance of the Indian team, the betting people were confident that the Indian team would win the cup. Even 10 overs after the start of the match, the chances of the Indian team winning were considered very high, because the Indian team’s score in the first ten overs was 80 runs for one wicket. By that time most of the speculators had placed their bets.

There are more than a hundred betting websites working in India, 1XBet, Dafa Bet, Parimatch, Lotto365, Khiladi.com, Yolo, TigerExchange, BetBhai and many other operators were also offering betting on phones. Betting was being done from many cities of Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
A person from Mumbai who keeps an eye on the betting racket said that yesterday was Diwali for the bookmakers, they have earned so much money that there is no worry about the next few years. Everyone expected that the Indian team would perform as it has in the last ten matches, but the opposite happened. Neither the Indian team could bat well nor bowl well.
